Touquet is a town in the north of France. Its namesake in Auckland is a lovely little place on Connell street run by a french chef that offers authentic and well-executed french cuisine with a twist.
An amuse bouche of (actually nicer than they sound) offal croquettes was followed by a starter of venison pate and a main course of deliciously slow cooked lamb (36+hrs!) with summer vegetables including aubergine, potato and tomatoes. Dessert was a manuka honey creme brulee served with a perfect spongy madeleine and berry profiteroles.
Casual in appearance, Touquet punches well above its weight in the food department.
A nice new place to catch up with friends and I look forward to returning to sample more of their regularly changing menu.
